Loukia Vassiliades

Loukia creates sophisticated and inventive experiences for children. At the heart of her practice is a belief in every child’s raw creative talent and capacity. She’s commited to unlocking, exploring and celebrating this creativity.

At age three she told her mother, “Βαλε με στη σκηνη” Greek for “put me on stage”. A performer ever since, and creative workshop artist for over a decade, Loukia brings depth of experience and playfulness.

Theatre works include Cooee, her debut interactive theatre piece for children first presented in English at War-Rak Banksia festival and later in Greek at the Festival of Mother Tongues. Welcome the Little Stranger, a collaboration with Pocketfool, is a work for babies and their carers scheduled to show at ArtPlay later in 2026.

Loukia’s connection to her Greek-Cypriot roots is expressed through her performances in works by Greek-Australian playwright Tes Lysiotis, Hotel Bonegilla and Paradise. Her passion for Greek/Cypriot culture and storytelling shapes her growing body of carefully crafted interpretations of Greek myths presented through story-led participatoty workshops that invite a renewed experience of ancient stories.

You may have participated in a workshop with Loukia at La Mama for Kids, ArtPlay or at community events across Hobson’s Bay.
